Mendut Temple |
Mendut a Buddhist
temple that is situated not far from Borobudur
approximately three kilometers. When compared with the Borobudur temple, the temple is proved to have an older age despite having a much smaller size. This temple is now a
tourist attraction in the district of Magelang.
Mendut called auspicious temple, because
many couples who have
not been blessed with children begging
to the Goddess of Fertility.
Mendut is located in the village of Mendut, Mungkid, Central Java. Which is
located 2 KM southeast of Magelang district capital, and 3 KM eastward from
Borobudur Temple, as well as 1.5 KM to the north of Pawon. So Mendut adjacent to Pawon and Borobudur.
History Mendut Magelang, founded in 824
AD by King Indra
during the reign of the Sailendra
dynasty. This temple belongs
to the three series of temples in the area Mungkid
starting from Borobudur Temple,
Pawon, and last Mendut.

in the past.
The visitors can enter the door Mendut located
in the northwest. This temple
has a forty-eight stupa at the peak of the
upper and unique reliefs intermittent in which describe
various kinds of celestial beings. Entering the temple then you can
see a fairly
large altar and three statues of Buddha. Unfortunately, visitors are prohibited to touch the statue due
to built an iron fence around it, but you

the camera. The temple is surrounded

extensive and iron fence.

Mendut also easy to find because it is
located just next to the road
and there is a clear sign. These include the size of a small temple
because of the high course is only 26.4 meters.
Attractions near Mendut try to get
around you will find a Buddhist temple
that is located not too far away. Actually, this
temple was originally a convent belonging to Catholics
and in 1950 the
monastery land was sold to the people. Then people sell this land back
to the foundation of Buddha and built this temple.
When finished touring the temples do not immediately go home first. Please stop
